Bird House" is a concise narrative game that follows a penguin inheriting their Mum's house, returning to confront and reconcile with the remnants of the past. Navigate the mundane aspects of life left behind, from packing up belongings to doing dishes, while attempting to move forward. Explore a house filled with fragmented memories at various points in time, delving into the emotional landscape of unresolved grief. Engage with evocative interactive text segments between chapters, allowing the story to unfold. Witness the world react to your choices in unexpected ways.

Developed in Unity as part of a class project at The Royal Danish Academy, this game offers a playtime of approximately 10-15 minutes. Go to our itch-page to download the game, click the Itch.io button below.

ART DIRECTION
Here you'll see pages from the original art bible, demonstrating how we carefully chose visuals to match the game's mood. Each chapter has its own color scheme to reflect the protagonist's emotions. Before creating the visuals, we did style tests to agree on the look. We also collected reference images for each room in the house to guide us when choosing models and decorating scenes. These materials show the planning and consistent visual direction we followed.
The first image compares the initial tests with the final outcome.
